WIP-REVIEW: More scenery for Robotech!

First update of this year!
I've been building the scenery sets from 4Ground I have so far:

The first kit that I assembled was the Pylons, from the 10mm Jesserai line. This line is intended for Dropzone Commander, but I chose kits from the Industrial Wards, that would not look awkward because of the scale difference (Robotech Tactics is 6mm scale).

Left: Unpainted joints. Right: Already done.
Izquierda: Junturas sin pintar. Derecha: Arregladas.

I had no idea how these would look, but calculated that if chosen correctly, everything would fit. For example, a pylon in 10mm scale would represent an almost 20m heigh structure and translated to 6mm scale would be a 55m heigh one. That's why I was gifted by my lovely GF the pylons, fences, landing pad and an urban power plant, discarding other options like residential buildings, streets, etc.

Yup, that's a custom 1:285 ruler.
Sip, esta es una regla en escala 1:285.

I must say that I'm more than pleased with the results. I loved the 4Ground products when I saw them online, and after buying and assembled them I can say I like them even more! At first I was kind of shocked with the amazing level of detail of the kits, and then worried because how fragile the uncut sheets seemed! But after assembling, the kits gain all the sturdiness they need, even the ones that are formed just by thin elements (like the pylons or fences). Of course, major buildings come with thicker componentes, ensuring that the final result is quite durable.

Here's an example of how my fences will be. I made a simple but effective conversion to add barbed wire to them. Of course, in 6mm scale, the barbed spikes are not visible, so I searched for a suitable alternative to represent the wire. The solution came thanks to a friend (thanks Aweboldo!) who suggested used bass strings. He even gave me some to try. I ended selecting one and unrolling it to have a nice spiral shaped wire to attach to the fence poles. The pole even came with the holes made by the laser cutting process so it was pretty easy. Attaching it, easy; unrolling the string... painfully slow and difficult!

Continuing with the scenery... This is the main building of the urban power plant. Seriously, these kits are GREAT. It was a joy building this kit. Please take a look at the details, like the ventilation vents, ducts and others...

The only down-side of these kits is, that being pre-cut and pre-painted items, you must cover some joints. LOL. Just that and you are done!. If you add more colours the kits look even better. In this case I spent like 2 minutes with a silver Sharpie pen covering ALL the details. 2 minutes.
2 minutos.

Other things to consider are the envelops, contents and instructions.
The bigger kits come in boxes while smaller ones come in zip-bags with the instructions, step by step in full colour. Can't say anything negative about these topics; the instructions are pretty clear and very explanatory and every little piece of the sprues is labeled. In addition of the instrucions, bigger kits come with everything necessary to build the model: clamps and different sized ruber bands to hold it while gluing.

In summary: 4Ground products are a blast. The detail is just awesome, they are not difficult to build, look incredible when finished and are sturdy enough to last long. I'll definitely buy more 4Ground products!
(Once Wayland Games stocks them again, the products lasts almost nothing and they are gone!)

Lastly, here's what is coming! (Among finishing all the fences with barbed wire!)

RANDOM MUSINGS: Time to resurrect

Hello again! It's been a while!
Well, another time, a loooong while. This is another attempt to update my blog, to honour all of the followers that one day decided to follow it.

I think it's time to update my profile too! Nowadays I'm more a model-gluer/player than a painter (sadly), a full-time dentist, father of a 7yo lovely son, missing WHFB (f*ck you AoS!), who still likes Chaos Warriors & stuff and also Robotech RPG Tactics, who will "try" to post here more often!

Yup. With the death of WHFB I'm still crying. Almost for a half year at the moment. But, they say one death's another birth. So I started playing Robotech RPG Tactics! (and I'm still waiting for the full development of 9th Age, Warhammer Reforged or another good WHFB alternative).

I left quite a bunch of unfinished WHFB projects uncompleted and changed the focus on these beauties:

At the moment, that's more or less where I am with RTRT. I have assembled some more miniatures and primed almost every assembled model.

Zentraedi Telnesta-Regult, one of my options for support artillery pods.

Zentraedi Gluuhaug Regult, the light artillery pods.

Size comparison between a Regult and a VF-1A Valkyrie from the UEDF army.

And my take of the Zentraedi Glaug, crushing a Valkyrie.

These UEDF mechas are not mine, but from some friends who also started playing RTRT this year.
A Valkyrie in battleloid mode and 2 Spartans.

3 Valkyiries in fighter mode and one in guardian mode. Notice the semi-translucent flying stands.
I tried to clone the original flying stands for a friend, who wanted his minis to be higher (because the stands that come with UEDF models are too short).

Then I came with this alternative for flying stands. 100% translucent, courtesy of Plastruct!

Bless you Plastruct. They have these rods even in different diameters.

I even managed to get some scenery done for my wargames

This pylon was manufactured by 4Ground Scenery. Such a good product. I'll try do do a proper review later.

These hills are from Amera Plastic Mouldings. Also great products and a good value for the money.

And this year I hardly managed to play RTRT several times, but so many as I would like to :(

And finally, to end this resurrection post, let me show my colour scheme for my Zentraedi army:

...and some pics of my friends UEDF mechas:

I hope to be writing soon!
